Is it possible to make ski poles about an inch or 2 higher?

I bought my ski poles last season (in a rush) and after about 2 runs noticed that they were about a couple inches too short for my liking.

Is there someway I can make them taller? Maybe take the top grip off - somehow - without ruining them?
